For this reason Food Banks have become a vital part of their lives, without them some people and families would simply have to go without food.
Many of the Methodist churches in Shropshire work alongside the Telford Crisis Network which is a Council and other group sponsored network that provides food, emergency help with gas and electric and other basics necessary for basic day to day life.
Many of our churches are Food Bank Donation Points giving the local community a place to go where they can donate food to help others less fortunate than themselves.
The Food Banks are always happy for any donations received. For ideas of groceries which are always needed please click here.
In addition the Dawley Christian Centre Methodist Church runs an Advice Centre with people on hand to help individuals gain access to internet sites to find the answers to their problems.
They offer a friendly listening service and if necessary can offer food and help with their gas and electricity to get them through a tough patch. The Advice Centre is manned by volunteers from the Telford Methodist Circuit and the Central Telford Ecumenical Partnership (which includes members of the Church of England and the Baptist Church). For more information about the Dawley Advice Centre please click here.
